Local PL Opportunities:
Once again our PL Committee under the direction of BetteAnne Stevenson has done a terrific job offering PD for our members. Thank you Bette Anne for your hard work and dedication to your role.
This Winter/ Spring Offerings are listed below. Application forms for each workshop will arrive in the Elementary OTs mailing due to arrive in your home after Feb. 16
Register early because these workshops fill up quickly. Registration will not be taken through CHATT or email. You must submit your application and the holding fee ($10.00 per event) in order to complete registration. The $10.00 will be returned to you if you show up for the event. The cheque will be cashed if you do not show up.

TRIBES TRAINING CONFERENCE
The Halton Elementary Occasional Teacher Professional Learning Committee is very proud to present this unique learning opportunity for our elementary occasional teachers!! Most job postings include “Tribes Training an asset”. This is your chance to add Tribes Training Certification to your resume!
Tribes is a “way of learning and being together” and is a program that has become a school-wide focus in many Halton elementary schools. We are able to offer only ONE complete Tribes Training Session this year.
WHO: Tribes Training Facilitators, Wendy Harrison and Marilyn Turner
WHEN: Thursday, Friday and Saturday, May 10, 11, 12, 2012
TIME: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00p.m. Each day for a 3 day session
Refreshments (coffee, juice, morning treats) provided all days
LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED SATURDAY ONLY (Brown Bag it Thursday and Friday)
WHERE: ETFO Halton Local Office (classroom)

ELEMENTARY OCCASIONAL TEACHERS ON LTO ASSIGNMENTS will NOT be provided coverage for Thursday and Friday classroom assignment therefore we are unable to accommodate you if you work either day.
Please note the following:
1. This conference requires a full three-day commitment. In order to receive certification, participants must have been in attendance and participated for the entire 3 days.
2. To confirm your place please submit a fully completed registration form with a cheque for $50.00(payable to HEOT), which will be returned to you at the successful completion of the 3-day conference.
3. The Tribes Manual ($50.00) is a requisite part of the training- make cheque payable to HEOT (you may use your $35 book subsidy if you have not already accessed it this school year therefore only a $15 cheque will apply)
4. Your place at this conference is only confirmed on receipt of the cheques listed above and a completed registration form.

All Provincially run PL activities are listed on the ETFO Provincial website - www.etfo.ca.
Visit the website often and see if there are events that you would be interested in attending.
Registration, cost and accommodation information will be listed on that website.
Remember:You can use your local PD Funding to attend one of these functions.

HEOT Professional Learning Subsidies !!!!!
!! Forms will be available on our website along with other Subsidy forms !!
HEOT is pleased to continue the Professional Reading Subsidy. Written resources, classroom tools, kits, etc. are now eligible for a subsidy from the Local.
Members may apply once per year to a maximum of $35 to be reimbursed a Professional Reading Subsidy. Members may also apply once yearly for a PL Subsidy to a maximum of $100 for attendance at approved workshops, seminars and conferences.
